Use Algebra

The mother is 21 years older than the child. In 6 years from now the mother will be 5 times as old as the child. The question you need to answer is: "Where is the father?" Hint: You can solve the puzzle using ordinary algebra. Check the Comments of this post for the answer.

The mum is 21 years older than the child, so:

M = C + 21

In 6 years from now the mum will be 5 times as old as the child, so:

M + 6 = 5 x (C + 6)

Hence,

C + 21 + 6 = (C + 6) x 5
C + 27 = 5C + 30
-3 = 4C
C = -3/4

The child is -3/4 years old, i.e. it will be born in 9 months.

So right now, the father is with the mother making the baby, and you shouldn't be watching!
